Before the Mahabharata war, Lord Krishna tested his power and realized Barbarika’s strength could imbalance dharma. Krishna asked for his head as donation (daan).
Without hesitation, Barbarika sacrificed his head. Impressed by his devotion, Lord Krishna blessed him:
👉 “In Kalyug, you will be worshipped in my name as Shyam.”
His head was later discovered in Rajasthan at Khatu village, where the famous temple stands today.
